AMC 10 PREP COURSE DETAILS
What are the goals of the AMC 10 Prep course?
AMC 10 prep course is designed to help high-performing students to prepare for AMC 10 contest. Our expert coach, Ms. Cerasela, will provide 18 fast-paced lessons to help students excel in the contest with the aim of AIME qualification.
How much time do I need for doing assignments?
Practice makes us perfect!
There is no substitute for hard work to become successful. Students can expect assignments requiring 3-5 hours of work every week. You will get one AMC 10 or 12 practice test every week. Additionally, you will get assignments related to the topic taught in the class.
How many students are in a course?
We will only take 10-15 students in the course, and many spots are already filled. Hurry up if you would like to be a part of this program.
Why do we have two classes every week before school opens in September?
Ms. Cerasela suggests that 18 sessions are necessary to provide comprehensive training to the students. As we will have only 14 weeks before AMC 10 contest, we need to have two sessions for a few weeks. It is better to handle the extra workload before school opens. Hence, we are doing two sessions every week before Labor Day long weekend. Sessions will be recorded so that students can review content if they miss any class.
Will CKSTEM organize AMC 10 contest?
No. AMC 10 is an in-person contest. Students need to participate in the contest through their schools or another organization conducting the contest locally.
How can I use the scholarships I won in CIC?
Please email info@ckstem.org to use the scholarship. You can combine scholarships up to 30% of the CKSTEM course value. This program is designed for TOPS students who already have heavily discounted rates. They will send fees to the teacher directly.
Do you support families with financial constraints?
CKSTEM is a non-profit organization that primarily aims to support students in our community to realize their potential. Non-profit does not mean that everything needs to be free. We are committed to keeping Canadian Innovation Contests (CIC) free for all students. However, we want to be self-sufficient to run our operations using the latest technology. We need to pay the staff as well. In a nutshell, we don't make any profit but need revenue from our courses to run our operations.
Having said that, no student should miss an opportunity to learn, compete, and win because of financial constraints. If you need help, please don't hesitate to contact us. We will need financial documents to validate the family's financial status to provide bursaries.
I want to join the course. What are the next steps?
The first step is for you to create an account on the CKSTEM learning portal which will be used to deliver course content to you. For detailed instructions, please take a look at the page here. By default, you will get access to our two very popular Canadian Innovation Contests for Math & Computing. You may find math contests harder than AMC 10. Don't hesitate to give these a try.
After creating your account, email info@ckstem.org with the details of the email you used for creating the account. We'll be able to guide you through the rest of the process.
